I’ve been waiting for an excuse to use this image for a couple of weeks now and Tara’s gallery prompt this week is perfect. If you haven’t visited Sticky Fingers before I wholeheartedly recommend it, there is some exceptional talent on display in the gallery there, in fact I’m almost embarrassed to submit my effort.
I took this pic on my phone so the quality isn’t great, but it’s one of those pictures that you just have to record. I found it whilst out walking the dog, near my parents house. We were wandering up a lane and decided to cross behind a farmhouse to get into the fields. The residents keep peacocks as guard dogs apparently- or that’s what my dad told my son, so it may not be completely true. We did see the peacock, he was truly as beautiful as it’s possible for any male of the species to get, resplendent in his striking blue armour. That’s not what I chose to photograph though;
Pride
I love the contrast of the new shoots springing from the branches in the foreground against the old, tattered wood of the shed. The fact that someone has bothered to paint Beauty on the door speaks of pride to me. I have no idea if it refers to the name of the peacock or is a family joke but I love it and wanted to share it…
Great photo and I’m intrigued as to the story behind “Beauty”. Guess we’ll never know? Unless of course you go know on the door and tell them your blog friends just HAVE to know…..
Maybe not.
