There seems to be an age cut off point, beneath which the word ‘melon’ is impossible to pronounce. In our house we have lemons for melons, something that always makes me laugh. Funnier still was the fact that I was recently able to convince all three of my kids that the two melons sitting on the worktop had DEFINITELY been lemons the night before…. well, I laughed.
I’ve chosen this picture for today’s Gallery. The theme is ‘A smile’ and although the quality of this one is frankly rubbish, I love it. It captures a miracle moment when every member of my family is eating fruit, and more or less enjoying it, and conveniently the computer was on the dining table (we were moving into the new office) so we used Photo Booth to take it. Lighting and composition – appalling, joy factor – off the scale.
If you haven’t checked out Tara’s Gallery before, do take a minute to. There are some brilliant photographers and wordsmiths out there…I can’t think of many better ways to while away an hour or two.
Looks like fun!
You are not alone, my boys call lemons melons too – strange little things. I adore the image it made me smile loads too
Love it!

I can feel the fun leaping out of the page, lovely smiley theme today. 10+ on the happiness scale 🙂
I love the absolute nuttiness of this! (Looks very familiar!)
Fabulous! xx
Great you all are together and eating FRUIT 🙂 @Kahanka
It really was fun – love moments like this 🙂
Thanks Jen, the lemon/melon thing always makes me laugh, wonder how long it will be before all of these little foibles fall by the wayside? xx
My crazy family! They’re not bad really x
It was a really silly moment! The kids loved it – kept insisting we took more pics! 🙂
More nuttiness is always a good thing – all to easy to forget to include it x
Thanks 🙂
It was fun! And it got them to eat melon!
I know! Fruit?! Amazing what the power of a silly photograph is! 🙂
Oh that’s fabulous and has really made me smile 🙂
Crisps used to be called Christmasses in this house, which is fair enough as crisps are almost as exciting as Christmas. I don’t understand why your children will eat melon and not cherries. It’s very strange.
Love it, it’s great that eating fruit is fun for them.
Just brilliant. That would never be seen in my house.

A real family photo where I guess lots of laughs were had to get everyone to ‘smile’
Oh i love this! Sorry, missed doing the rounds earlier in the week. This shot has a real 70s feel to it. Fab. xx
LOL what a great picture. We tend to eat melon balls at Up North towers (other parts of the melon can be eaten too).
Boom boom etc.
Lol! That’s a fantastic photo!
