My friend Liz over at Violet Posy nominated me to receive a bumper pack of Tesco‘s school uniform.  With 3 children in the house you can imagine how grateful I was. A huge, black box arriving at the door filled with an assortment of jumpers, cardys, trousers, skirts, pens, pencils and books.  There was also a very welcome £30 voucher off Tesco clothes that will be spent before you can say “I need new jeans mum”. It’s worth noting that the sizes come up BIG – Two out of three of my children are slim, the other is petite – all of the uniform was too big – thank goodness for adjustable elastic on the trousers (although it’s shame the 5yo put her knee through them the first day she wore them!)

When Lego originally sent me some of their series 2 minifigures I wasn’t very hopeful of success. Funny how wrong you can be…. All three kids went mad for them and they’ve completely reignited the 8yo’s love for lego.  My only complaint now is the pain from walking into his room at night across a floor strewn with the stuff – ouch!

*Giveaway* We’re big Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom fans in this household.  Well, the younger members are anyway *cough*, so we were very excited to preview their new release “Holly’s Magic Wand and other Adventures”- it’s a BAFTA award winning series donchaknow! The U-rated DVD contains 11 episodes – perfect bite sized television time, or watch in one go if you’re in need of some proper ‘down-time’.  It’ll be released in the shops on Monday September 27th but we’ve got three to give away.  T&Cs are below, but all you have to do to enter is leave a comment below or email me with the subject line ‘Ben & Holly’. Good luck!

The makers of Swingball – one of my childhood faves – contacted me recently to tell me about Tailball.  Basically it’s a set containing 2 bats and a ball that looks like a hybrid of a tennis ball and a kite ribbon… a ball with a tail, thus ‘Tailball’! We took it on holiday to Scotland with us, and in a jam packed car it was small enough to cram into a spare cranny.  We tested it on an exposed beach on the Isle of Skye and within 5 minutes the girls had created their own version of the game.  Wind notwithstanding it’s a good toy to have in the back of the car for days out.

My kids got really excited when they saw this box lying on the kitchen table. Who isn’t a fan of Toy Story 3? The Rocket Tent claims to be easy to assemble, and I’m sure it would be for the average chimp.  I’ll admit to spending a confused 10 minutes looking at the poles trying to work out what to do.  The fullsize version is big enough to just about squeeze three children into and, more surprising, robust enough not to tear under the strain.  Obviously the best part is that it’s very quick to remove the poles and stuff into a box, rather than stare at a 4ft Buzz Lightyear all day long!

With Autumn practically upon us I’ve been grateful for these Peppa Pig activity sheets – ideal for rainy days or road trips. Click on the links to download the pdfs….  Peppa1 Peppa2 peppa3 peppa4

Next month – if you’re a parent of a child studying for the 11+ do stop by.  I’m on the look out for white goods – my tumble dryer and my oven have died, please feel free to contact me to review a replacement, and I’m still holding out for that Land Rover…  😉

T&Cs

  • This competition is open to UK residents only (sorry!)
  • The winner will be drawn randomly, probably using names in a bucket, because that’s as high-tech as I get
  • The competition closes at midnight on Wednesday 29th September and the draw will be made the next day
  • There are no refunds, replacements or alternative offerings available
  • I think that’s all – Good luck!

Ben and Holly, Ben and Holly Ra, ra, raaaa!! Or perhaps you’l prefer the entire script to the episode where they turn Ben into a frog. Not that we watch it a lot or anything….

Ben & Holly! My 2yo is a huge fan. So much so that he referred to me as Nanny Plum the other day. Should I be worried?
Best line from Ben & Holly? ‘I’m Nanny Plum, not an Astrophysicist!’

Okay a comment erm. Have I mentioned how lovely you are looking today? Did I tell you that I really like those shoes? Does this count as a comment?

Sheesh, 4 foot Buzz? My kind of nightmare..my little one is Buzz obsessed. Must remember never to show him that.

My 5yo is just getting in to lego, but actually what they both love is the little figures that come with the sets. Same with Playmobil, they love the people…the £50 pirate ship/plane/crane etc is just a holder for the ‘little men’.
