If you got:
0 -5 Shame on you. You’re either a) a heathen or b) less than 25 years old, in which case what on earth are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be on Myspace or IM or Bebo, or in Macca Ds?
5-10 Could do better. You’ve probably been spending far too long using itunes with artwork turned off. Time to dust off your album collection, crack open a case of something chilled and spend an evening reacquainting yourself with some classic tunes *pronounced in an everso slightly ironic accent*
10-15 Pretty good. You should be feeling the warm glow of the almost middle aged. You know your iconic albums and then some…who cares about anything that’s been released in the last 5 years anyway?
15-20 You cheated…..
So, prizes. Well, I said there weren’t any and I don’t lie. But what I can do is this:
In first place, despite the fact that she admitted to being assisted and possibly googling some of the answers, I have to hand it to this woman. More than that, in a fit of sincerity I’d like to say that she was one of my first twitter / blog friends and we’ve been going strong ever since. Although we’ve never met in real life, we’ve spoken on the phone (truth be told I didn’t understand a word) but she always makes me laugh, is honest and strong and, more to the point, writes a beaut of a blog. If you don’t already know her through the #FridayTwiz or twitter (@nickie72) you need to make it your duty to do so. She’s a gem, pure and simple. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you your winner Nickie O’Hara. *wild applause*
We also have two runners up who deserve a mention. Firstly the enigma that is @himupnorth – he got 19 correct for anyone who’s counting – although considering the fact that on a daily basis he subjects us all to a spotify feed that covers everything from Justin Bieber to Neil Young I’m not hugely impressed…particularly when it took him DAYS to get there and then he griped when I finally (and mercifully) told him the answer to No16. Anyways, despite all of that he happens to be a very talented writer and blogger and a good friend. Again he’s a northener so having a translator to hand is always a good idea…
Our second runner up is @stromi . After an early strong start he limped along for a couple of days, finally weighing in with an assisted 19. It’s not earth shattering granted, but I’m impressed with his tenacity. He’s also a thoroughly decent bloke and one of those bloggers that just gets on and does his own thing as and when he feels like it. He writes two blogs, this is his personal blog. He’s a huge LFC fan as well so it’s probably best to leave out all references to the bottom half of the table, or flirting with the relegation zone….it is early days after all ay?
LOLing at the Bieber reference.
I was rubbish at this. I had about 9 that I knew…. and some I had half an idea about. And the ones I knew were *old*.
You didn’t understand me because it was 2am and the phone kept cutting off (or was that you accidentally-on-purpose hitting the off button?)… or something 😉
It is also impossible to google an image so my colleague (who shall equally take the blame) googled “album covers black and white” and then hit “images”.
Thank you for the fantastic write up. Hopefully that will get me some more readers 😉
Okay, two things: firstly, no way does Nickie win when she ADMITS to cheating. Secondly, quizzes like these usually ignore albums that did little better than selling 700 copies in the Strathclyde region. Glas-who???
Great fun. My desk has a head-shaped dent in it now. And thank you for your kind words. I’m all blushy now. 🙂
I am a heathen. But then you probably knew that anyway. Either that or just not particularly interested in album covers.
Yes, Glas-who… we’re equal Garry. I only cheated so I could get one up on you :-p
Agggh ffs I just read through the answers, suppose I should have looked at the questions first lol… duh! I could do it and just pretend I got them all right??!!
9 is respectable enough – espesh if you got there on your own (unlike some)!
Ah yes, that would be it!
I wouldn’t know about the impossibility of googling images etc….because I wouldn’t have tried!!
More than happy to share some love though 🙂
Ok, firstly she confessed and was docked 2 points which would have put you in joint first place….BUT she was first and she didn’t make any snidey comments about Glasvegas….. oh
I’m going with the former…..should have included Glee and Starman just for you…
You’d only be fooling yourself, but if you’re ok with that then go for your life! Come back for the next one…..that’ll test you 🙂
You say some very nice things thank you. And thanks for not mentioning the football. Doh!
I did ed up getting 17 myself and had help on two, one of which was Glasvegas. Yay my friend with nothing better to do on a Saturday night.
Can we have some more please? Oh please. Go on. Go on. Go on. Go on. Go on. As Mrs Doyle would say.
